Office of Men's Policy

The Office of Men’s Policy works to ensure men are considered fully when developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating Northern Territory Government policy.

The four key focus areas of the policy framework for Northern Territory men are:

  • community safety
  • health and wellbeing
  • partnership and engagement
  • supporting young Territory males into adulthood.

In addition, the office also supports:

  • men’s leadership and participation
  • keeping Territory families safe
  • Indigenous males advisory council
  • facilitation, engagement, consultation, policy advice and reporting on issues affecting Northern Territory men
  • promotion of regional strategies
  • development of communications campaigns.

Supported initiatives

The office supports initiatives including:

Indigenous Males Advisory Council

The Indigenous males advisory council is a government council of Indigenous men. It meets up to four times a year at Parliament House in Darwin to discuss family violence.

The council has regular access to senior politicians, raising issues to which the government must respond.

The council is developing links with service providers, non-government organisations, Aboriginal organisations, sports clubs and other groups.
